We started our day with a $1 breakfast before heading out to the aquarium and zoo. Here's a candid shot of the group walking to the Waikiki area.

Here's another candid shot of the group, except this time I'm sporting sunglasses while Gordon ditched his.

We're at the aquarium! Gordon and I decided to skip this since we've been here already and didn't want to pay admission fees again. Mary and Sopha went in and had a good time. While Gordon and I relaxed at the shore (he tried to take a nap while I read my Orcs book).

We passed by the zoo after the aquarium, but the line went all the way to the sidewalk. We decided to skip the zoo for today. Instead, we waited for the bus to go to Diamondhead state monument (a hike up a volcano crater). We had some trouble finding the right bus, but third time was a charm for us.

We just got off the bus. Here's proof that we went here. I'm here too.

Peace outside!

We had a long walk that included a tunnel run before reaching the beginning of the trail.

This was the reward at the end of the tunnel, hotdog truck!
A little water break before the start of the hike.

The beginning of the trail.

Candid group picture after the pavement ended.

We have to get up there, and then some.

This is the first point of interest. They use this pulley to bring material up the crater to construct everything up here needed for the tourist attraction.

Point of interest #1 is done, now we continue.

Looking down at what we've conquered so far.

Cool view, you can see the edge of the crater with the city far in the background.

We had to climb two sets of stairs (the second one was about 70 steps high) and two walk through two tunnels, with Gordon shouting "cheeseburger" and "diamond" the entire way.

Rest area, everyone's tired.

Here's staircase #2 (the 70 steps one).

Oh, I forgot there was also a spiral staircase where you can only fit one person at a time.

This is the view from the top, it's what we climbed so high to see. Inside and outside of the crater.

After about half an hour at the top, we started walking back down. We ran into this along the walk back, looks like someone got tired of walking a stroller.

The bus ride back to Waikiki felt longer than it was because we were all hungry.

ME BBQ!! Then it was back to the hotel for shower and nap time.

Gordon's friend was in the neighborhood tonight, so he drove us to Dave and Buster. We had dinner and drinks (I had a spinach dip with a pina colada, the others had mai tai and long islands) and games (Mary won a ton of tickets... Gordon won one...).
looks like lots of fun!!
ReplyDeletei noticed u got a pic of gordon's ass in one of ur shots...lol
and ur pina colada looks yummy!...and fruity...hehe =)
really? didn't notice gordon's ass... and the pina colada was good (the only problem was the ice chucks were too large to go through my straw... so i had to drink from the cup) =)
