Day 4: Sleep in, Dole plantation, mall

We accidentally slept in today and had to be back at the apartment by 5pm (to let Gordon's friend in), so we were pressed for time. Got dressed, got to the bus stop right when the bus was pulling in (lucky us), but we didn't have $2 lol. So we decided to get change and eat breakfast at Subway while waiting for the next bus.

We took a bus from "The Bus" company to get to the Dole plantation (1hr ride). This was just a random bus... we actually took line 52.

Yay, we reached our destination! It suppose to have the world's largest maze.

The way that the maze work is that guests are given a card with squares. We're suppose to find stencil-stations to trace out pictures (there are 8 squares on the card... to beat the maze, you're suppose to have 8 pictures before leaving). It's not the kind of maze where you go in and look for an exit (in fact, the exit is right next to the entrance).

Gordon and I managed to find 4 out of 8 stenciling stations in an hour before leaving the maze (we were afraid that we wouldn't be able to get back by 5pm had we stayed longer). We decided that we'll come back in a week or two (when we're not pressed for time) to conquer the world's largest maze. We're gonna break the record (10 min).

There were huge snail shells all over the ground beneath the wall of plants. Here's a pen for scale. The few that I checked all had a few pillbugs inside of them.

Oh, and before leaving... we found a white fence with lots of graffiti on it. Gordon wrote our name on there... and I contributed by writing our school on there.

We left the maze early enough to grab some tourist-food before leaving Dole plantation. Gordon had pineapple ice cream with pineapple chunks.

I had the bowl of pineapple chilli.

This little dude decided to join us for lunch. It's a peacock!!

This little fellow (who's hard to see) was also in the area. It was a cat (not a domestic one... it had a weird, giant, fluffy tail).

There was a tour too, but we didn't have time to go on it. These two pictures are what was across the street from the Dole plantation (I think it's the real plantation, where they actually grow the pineapple).

Took this picture of random trees (can't tell if they're palm trees or coconut trees) while waiting for the bus back home. It actually started to drizzle a little during our 40min wait. Gordon and I were both in shorts and sandals... luckily I brought a sweater with me, but unfortunately, Gordon didn't.

We got back to the apartment area around 4pm. This left us with an hour before Gordon's friend got off work, so we went to the mall. Had some Starbucks and Gordon played on that headphone game again. I played too this time (lost $2)!

Headed back to the apartment to let his friend in. Then hung around the apartment for about an hour before deciding to grab some discounted food from the supermarket inside the mall (Foodland). I had a spam musubi ($1), a carton of pineapple (sweeten with some kind of red syrup) (this wasn't discounted, I just wanted pineapple), 2 half-priced pastries, and potato chips were from the deli ($1.25).

We came back to the apartment after eating and didn't do much for the rest of the night. I played 2 games of Dota with Daniel, did a little bit of research on what else we can do in Hawaii, and blogged.

Almost time to shower and go to bed (don't want to sleep in again... wasn't as fun as it could've been to have to rush).
