Day 6: Bought sunglasses and walked Waikiki

It was pretty wet today, so we didn't want to go too far from our hotel (in case it starts to rain again). Gordon said the McDonalds in Hawaii has spam and egg so that's what we had for breakfast today. I got siemin with my breakfast too (it just seems like cup-a-noodle to me).

We decided to get some banana pies for the road.

Then we went to the Starbucks that was a block away. I ordered my drink and paid with a gift card. Turns out that there wasn't money enough on that first card, so I handed the girl a second gift card. Turns out that one only had a few cents left on it, so I gave her a third gift card. That one only had a few cents left on it too. I ended up paying like 40 cents with my credit card.

We went back to the hotel after getting the Starbucks to wait out the weather. We were pretty bored for an hour or so before we started playing with the ethernet cable in out room. I plugged it in and checked a box and clicked "Proceed" and BAM, I had internet. I was shocked. I thought I needed to enter a credit card, my name, and some other information before they'd connect me (I was freaked out, thinking I had incurred a room charge for internet). I called the front desk and told them what happened and that it was an accident. I asked if I'd be charged for it, but the man who answered the phone said that it shouldn't even be working, that the hotel had recently installed these lines and that it wasn't active yet. He said that I was charged yet. I told him that it was working in our room even though the line wasn't suppose to be active, and asked if I would be charged if I'd continued to use it. He whispered, "no sir". That was AWESOME!

When the weather cleared up, Gordon and I decided to walk around Waikiki. We approached a house that had a large flock of pigeons on top of its room. As we passed it, we noticed that there were even more pigeons on in front of it.

Oh yeah! And we each bought aviators today (even though we told ourselves before leaving the hotel that we would try to save more money by not buying anything [we were bored in the hotel and didn't want to wander too far in case it started to rain, but knew that the only thing to do in Waikiki was shop and eat]).

This is just a random shot of the beach of Waikiki. There was a gazebo like thing sticking out into the water. We decided to explore.

Man, the day just looks wonderful after the rain. I didn't even notice how nice it was until reviewing this picture back at the hotel. I love the way the clouds look in this picture.

Yeeee Gordon!

These walls absorb the majority of the waves' energy, leaving relatively nice, calm water near the shore for people to enjoy.

These body boarders looked like they were having a great time. Both Gordon and I were jealous.

This is the other side of the gazebo. The waves aren't blocked by walls.

We walked passed the aquarium today. It looked awfully small, but hopefully it'll be fun (planning to check it out in a few days).

We passed by this place on our walk back to our hotel (while looking for dinner). It's called the King's Village shopping center. They had a neat theme going on that included people dressed up like English/British guards.

We got dinner from this place, but brought it back to our hotel so we could watch tv while eating. I had the bbq beef with a Pepsi.

  2. The last picture of your meal looks delicious. Is that some sort of pickled vegetables next to the macaroni salad? Also, you and Gordon look bad ass with the aviators, well played.
