Day 13: A slow morning and nap and Sleeping Beauty: The Musical

Today started kind of slow. I woke up around 8:30 and just felt restless, so I ate an Ahi musubi (that I bought the other day from Yama's fish market) and went on a jog (I think I've jogged like 4-5 times since I've been here, doesn't sound like much... but it's a lot better than back in LA where I could never get myself out the door). Ran into Gordon on the way back to the hotel (he was on his way to get Subway's $5 footlong).

Turns out he had a hangover from last night so we decided to cancel our beach day, which was totally fine with me because I came out of the shower pretty tired. We watched a show that reminded me of Cops, but was focused on the DEA. We watched like 3 episodes (I think they were having a marathon) while I reheated my Panda Express and ate.

Then it was an episode of Scrubs (online) before reading my Orcs book.
(stopped watching Scrubs because our internet died!! they finished installing the LAN lines in all the rooms and started charging ~$10/day and ~$40/week for in-room internet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
Now I have to come to the lobby to use free wireless (so no more dotaing during the trip). =(

Anywhoo... reading got me sleepy, so seeing as how this is suppose to be a relaxing vacation... I took a nap!

I had my alarm set to wake up at 5:30 because we bought tickets to Sleeping Beauty: The Musical, which starts at 7:00. The initial plan was to take a bus to the theatre, but we were running late so Gordon's friend drove. We made it just in time (with about 10 minutes to spare).

Geez I look sweaty... it must have been from rushing out of our hotel and power walking to Gordon's friend's apartment (we thought we were going to miss the bus [which we did, that's why Gordon's friend drove]). Hmmm, look at that sign behind me... wondering what they're presenting tonight at 7:00?

Why, it's Sleeping Beauty: The Musical!

Proof that we were there. I actually didn't like the musical... at all. I was expecting so much more because my first two musical experiences were Wicked (Pantages theatre) and Phantom of the Opera (The Venetian, Las Vegas)... super nice performances with extensive props and cast members. Sleeping Beauty was more of a small theatre group/school/local production. Very amatuerist compared to my two former performances.

Sorry about the blurriness, the theatre people asked for no flash photography. This is suppose to be a dragon.

I was compelled to take this picture because I wanted to justify my opinion of the musical. There's two people behind the dragon holding up his wings!! They chased him around the stage trying to stay behind him because the audience isn't suppose to see them.

It wasn't all bad though. It had it's comical moments... such as this light saber.

  1. Doing nothing/very little is what vacationing is all about! That play does look a little ghetto though...
