We started our day with a $1 breakfast once again and headed off to order tickets for a luau (we're suppose to be ready and waiting at 4:10pm). Afterward, we headed out for a bus stop near our hotel. We had a good 15 minutes wait before our bus arrived. We're waterfall hunters today.

Got off the bus at Punahou St. and Wilder Ave., setting out to find the Manoa Falls trail.

We passed by a lot of nice (expensive-in-appearance) houses. This one was super festive.

There was an area that we passed by that had flowers littering the grass. Mary and Gordon decided to decorate themselves.

After an extremely long walk down Manoa Rd. (while asking random people for directions), we agreed that we probably passed the Manoa Falls Trail (it's suppose to be hard to find, so states the travel guide). The confusion was caused by the fact that there's two Manoa hiking opportunities that are ~8 miles apart. I think people were giving us directions for Manoa Falls (the more popular and farther of the two) instead of Manoa Fall trail. We press on and catch another bus that was closer to Manoa Falls for the return trip (we were pressed for time since we had to get back, shower, and get dress for the luau). I went ahead of the group and took pictures of the entrance of Manoa Falls (which was also the Lyon Arboretum entrance).

Then I ran back to the group and waited at the bus stop with them.

We got off at Ala Moana mall and shopped a little before taking the trolley back to our hotel.

We cleaned up and dressed quickly (we were running late), then ran for the pick-up location for the luau.

Boarded our bus and ran into two girls (they're behind Us in the picture with me and Gordon with our tongue out) that we met on the shuttle ride to snorkeling Hanauma Bay.

The bus ride was an hour and a half long (traveling 30 miles through traffic [traffic in Hawaii, who would've guess]), but we had a very entertaining host, so time flew by quickly.

We made it to Germaine's luau!! We got lei'ed and took a group picture before grabbing a table and picking up drinks (we got 3 drink tickets with our deal).

I had a pina colada (2 tickets) and a melonball (1 ticket) (I didn't like it and was pretty gone already, so I didn't finish it).

Mary and Sopha and our pineapple appetizer.

There were about 500 people at this luau. It was a really great show!

The food was pretty good, and it was buffet style (but I could only handle 1 round).

They brought girls onstage to do the hula; and reconized birthday, anniversary, and military people.

There was singing, dancing (black light sometimes... fire dance sometimes), and funnies.
Unfornately my camera battery died near the end of the night, but I had a lot of videos and pictures of the earlier portion of the show.
luau looks cool! i want to see one!
ReplyDeletelol, i was worried u would be too gone from the booze, good thing u didn't lose ur camera and had ppl to get u back safe =)
You were awake after THREE DRINKS?! Hawaii has changed you, you're basically an alcoholic now. That luau food looks fatty and delicious.
ReplyDeleteThe performances were great! The hosts were fun, the music was loud, and the girls wore grass skirts =)
