Day 3: Supermarket, beach, mall, jog

Remember the badass ocean view from the apartment last night? Eat your heart our MTV Cribs... This place has a mall and a beautiful beach (with the bluest water i've ever seen) across the street from it.

Remember the badass ocean view from the apartment last night? Even more amazing during the sunlit hours (IMO... night owls would probably disagree).

We decided to find a random place to have breakfast, and this place was the winner. It, and other mom-and-pop restaurants, was attached to a supermarket called Don Quixote (seems like a local hawaiian supermarket... comparable to the chinese's Hawaii supermarket on Del Mar [626]).

Once again, spam for breakfast (wonderful way to start a tropical vacation morning)... this time with Mountain Dew.

Gordon got the 3-meats special.

After breakfast, we went into the supermarket. That's where I saw pictures of these guys (I thought a picture of these guys was worth getting my camera out and risk looking like the ultimate tourist). btw, I forgot if I mentioned this in a previous post, but I've been mistaken for Japanese or Korean quite a few times during this trip (why not Chinese, people?? better yet... why not try to talk to me in english first before implying that I look fobby?? mutherduckers).

WAAAAH!! little buddies from the pictures that I took a picture of (weird sentence) in stuffed animal form! So worth getting the camera out!

After breakfast, we decided to treat ourselves to a little bit of play time on the beach (the very same one from the view from the apartment). Gordon bought that mat from the supermarket for a little less than $2... such a good investment.

Beautiful. We swam/splashed around in this!!!! Then we got cold and decided to try to get rid of our t-shirt tan. Laid on the beach taking in the sun for a good half an hour before heading back to the apartment to shower and figure out lunch.

Some neat looking mangroove-type trees near the ocean (definitely placed there by people... it was the only group of its kind surrounded by palm trees.

Showered and headed off for the mall for lunch. We decided to get $5 foot-longs at Subway.

Gordon went back to his obsession (that game where he could win Bose headphones) and played 2 games (I think). I decided to play a game too. I went for a claw machine... and won this little fellow on my first try... thanks to the help of Gordon's excellent gaming expertise.

Anywhoo, that was it for pictures today.

The rest of our day was spent waiting for Gordon's friend to come back to the apartment from work so we could let him in (he gave us his set of keys so we could go in and out of the apartment while he's gone, extremely nice of him), jogging (I was trying to find the Oahu's chinatown, but got tired and gave up), going back to Don Quixote on the way back from jogging (bought a salmon musubi and a mat like Gordon's), showering for the second time today, watching parts of Jurassic Park 3, and eating dinner in a restaurant called Like Like (I think it's pronouced "lie-key lie-key").

  1. Post excellent post sir. I can't help but notice your images say SanyoXXXX.jpg, is that the waterproof camera? I hear the water is super clear and you can usually see down to the bottom (are you getting my drift? :P ). Also, I had no idea you were Chinese, always thought you were a Jap, this comes as a big surprise.
